The project in brief

Creation of a planning tool to assist with strategic, organisational, technical, operational and financial decision-making concerning the overall water policy to be implemented by the local authority in order to make a success of the ecological transition in the light of a territorial project that nurtures the challenges of sustainable development. The aim here is to write the story of the ‘water of the future’ for the CAVM.

To this end, the decisions taken at the end of the current term of office and the next term of office of the local authorities must be informed by a long-term vision for the next 75 years, i.e. a ‘Water2100’ strategic objective.

OiEau's missions

  • Analysis and synthesis of scientific knowledge on water in all its states, and of experiments and public policies on water carried out by institutions (State, local authorities, etc.);
  • Setting short-, medium- and long-term water planning objectives;
  • Proposing innovative approaches to participatory planning of water uses, and the implementation of new water management tools (metrology, regulation, software tools, operating tools, modelling tools, predictive tools, etc.);
  • Drawing up a popularised communication document on Valenciennes Métropole's global water cycle strategy.
