Since 2018, OiEau has been a member of the Board of Governors of the World Water Council, as part of College 5 (professional associations and academic institutions). Its participation has so far focused on promoting and strengthening new dialogues, across sectors and at different scales.
The World Water Council, by increasing dialogue between its members and beyond, plays a decisive role in building and leading networks of water stakeholders, a priority issue that constitutes one of OiEau's four areas of expertise.
Created in 1996, the World Water Council is an international multi-stakeholder organisation born from an initiative of renowned water specialists and international organisations, in response to the growing concern of the world community about water issues worldwide. Its mission is to raise awareness of water issues, strengthen political commitment and drive action on critical water issues at all levels.
Every three years, it co-organises the International Water Forum, the last of which took place in Dakar, Senegal, in 2022. The tenth edition will take place in Bali, Indonesia, in May 2024.
